Victor Wiggins of Gastonia, N.C. fired an 11-under-par 61 on Thursday, setting PGA Junior Series records and the competitive course record for Clemson University's Walker Course in the second of a PGA Junior tournament at that course.
Wiggins, a rising junior, carded nine birdies and an eagle and now owns an eight-stroke lead heading into the final round. He will be graduating form high school in 2013 and has verbally committed to playing golf for Auburn University.
"My putting was the best part of my game today," said Wiggins. "My best score prior to this round was a 65. It feels good to be able to go lower." In second place overall is Dylan Healey of Franklin, Tenn., who fired a 70. He trails Wiggins by eight shots heading into Friday's final round.
After firing a 74 in the second round, Dwight Cauthen of Columbia, S.C., maintained his lead in the Boys' 13-15 division, shooting a 73. "The turning point in my round was when I birdied holes 5 and 6," said Cauthen. "I only missed 2 fairways all day."

Samantha Gotcher of Clarksville, Tenn., followed up her first round 66 with a 71 in the second round. "I made a crucial putt just off the edge of the 9th green for birdie; this was a big turning point in my round," said Gotcher.
"My chipping and overall short game helped me through my round today."
In second place going into Friday's final round is Sarah Harris of Hermitage, Tenn. She trails Gotcher by 6 shots with a 36- hole total of 143.
