MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Myrtle Beach and Kinston didn’t wait long to put runs on the board in game two of the Carolina League Southern Division Series.
The Pelicans and Indians combined on 12-runs in the first three innings. But the offenses fell into a slumber the rest of the way. Kinston’s Jesus Aguilar hit an RBI single in the top of the eleventh and added an insurance run to lift the Indians to a 8-6 win. Kinston evens the series at one game a piece.
Myrtle Beach plated five in the first thanks to a single, a walk, two errors and a Chris McGuiness three-run home run.
Kinston inched back with two in the second inning and tied the game in the third frame with a Tyler Cannon grand slam.
Pelicans relief pitchers Ryan Kelly, Zach Osborne, Jimmy Reyes and Trevor Hurley combined to throw 7.2 consecutive scoreless innings.
Game three of the Carolina League Southern Division Series is Friday in Kinston.
