MYRTLE BEACH - Major League Baseball Tuesday morning announced a long-term suspension of a Texas Rangers prospect and current Myrtle Beach Pelicans pitcher.
According to a release from the MLB office in New York, pitcher Andrew Doyle is suspended for 50 games for his second violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for a drug of abuse.
The league says the suspension is effective immediately.
Doyle is a 23-year-old right hander with a 4.50 ERA this season and a record of 1-1 in five appearances.
