MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The Pelicans blow a 4-1 lead and give up four runs in the eleventh inning to fall against Lynchburg in the series opener on Tuesday night at BB&T Coastal Field.
The Hillcats sent eight batters to the plate and received a 2-RBI double from Joe Leonard to get past Myrtle Beach. Ryan Rodebaugh (1-1) gave up four earned runs in one-inning of work to suffer the loss.
Myrtle Beach was outhit 16-7 in the defeat. Outfielder Travis Adair and second-baseman Santiago Chirino each recorded two hits.
Game two against Lynchburg is set for Wednesday at 7:05. This is the second to last regular season home series for Myrtle Beach. The Pelicans will be in the playoffs after winning the Carolina League Southern Division first half title.
