Herrington wins Super Truck track championship

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Dillon Motor Speedway hosted the final Super Truck point’s race of the year.

Heading into the race weekend, Jimmy Herrington led Kevin Parsons and Archie Adams Jr. in the point’s championship. All Herrington had to do is finish fourth or better to win the championship even if Parsons or Adams Jr. won the race.

On lap two of the Super Truck feature, the field stacked up on the restart and championship contender, Kevin Parsons slammed the inside wall, ending his hopes of winning the championship. Archie Adams Jr. had a rough night and finished eighth. Jimmy Herrington led every lap in route to his fourth win of the season. He captured the trophy, purse and the 2011 Super Truck track championship. Hal Goodson was the runner up as he tried to chase down Herrington all night long. Tallon Gallimore rounded out the top three. Jake Vancannon finished fourth, and Terry Moore finished fifth.

Carl Britt dominated the Mini Cup feature by leading all 25 laps. From second to fourth, a blanket could have been thrown over the competition. The top five cars were constantly bump drafting and passing each other all night long. Bill Willis finished second, Steve Chauncey third, Chris Bachman fourth, and Josh Patterson rebounded to finish fifth after a late race spin.

The Four Cylinder drivers really respected each other throughout the caution free 25 lap feature. Kevin Jackson led all of the laps in route to another victory. Brian Owens and Art Chambers had a fierce battle as they finished second and third respectively. Trey Cutler finished fourth and Brent Williams finished fifth.

Tommy Poole captured his second win of the year this past weekend. He held off hard charger, Regina Weatherford who finished second. Neal Anderson picked up his first top three this season. Justin Smith finished fourth, and Randy Hall crashed in practice.

The Charger feature was wild this past weekend. There was plenty of side-by-side racing and various lead changes. Brad Dewitt led the first 16 laps until he and Mike Watts got together entering turn one. That handed over the lead to Cody McKenzie. Dewitt reclaimed the lead on lap 22 with a crinkled rear bumper. In the end, Mike Watts took the checkered flag and his teammate, McKenzie finished second. Reese Tadlock finished third, and Kevin Ellis finished fourth. Dewitt rounded out the top five.

Aaron Miller took the checkered flag in the UCAR feature this past weekend, but not without a fight from Duane Walker. The two drivers combined to lead all 25 laps. Josh Dean finished second, and Duane Walker rounded out the top three. Miller’s teammate finished fourth, and Kayla Dean finished fifth.
