WILMINGTON, DE – Myrtle Beach claims their first road series victory with a 6-4 win over Wilmington Thursday night at Frawley Stadium.
Chris McGuiness homered and drove in four to lead the Birds.
Tied at four with two outs in the ninth inning, the Pelicans drew back-to-back walks before a Jared Prince RBI single. Two batters later, McGuinness tallied his third hit of the game to give Myrtle Beach a three run cushion.
Pelicans starter Miguel De Los Santos struck out 11 for the third time in his last five starts. Relief pitcher Trevor Hurley threw three perfect innings in relief.
After a day off on Friday, the Pelicans return home to BB&T Coastal Field on Saturday for their final series of the regular season, a three-game set against the Salem Red Sox before the Southern Division Championship Series opens on Wednesday at BB&T Coastal Field.
