West Florence’s Stephen Behr fired a 36-hole total 139 and is tied for first after Monday’s first day of the Class 4A golf state championship at Furman University Golf Club.
Behr, the defending state champion, shot a 67 in the morning and a 72 in the afternoon. Jordan Marsh shot 75-83 — 158 for West, while Nick Schuster shot 79-83 — 162. Brooks DuBose carded an 89 in the morning, and Matthew Hall had a 79 in the afternoon.
As a team, West Florence is tied with Lexington for fifth after shooting 310 in the morning and 317 in the afternoon for a 36-hole total of 627.
Fort Dorchester leads the event with a 588, while Blythewood is second at 598.
The championship concludes with 18 holes this morning.
