Victor Hampton might get a chance to show his skills on the field for South Carolina after all.
The defensive back was reinstated to the Gamecock football team Tuesday, athletic department spokesman Steve Fink confirmed.
Hampton was dismissed from the team last Thursday for a violation of team rules.
Hampton played his senior season of high school football at Darlington, his third school in as many years. He was red-shirted at USC in 2010 and exited spring practice as the backup to Stephon Gilmore at cornerback.
As a senior for the Falcons in 2009, Hampton had more than 50 tackles and three interceptions in seven games. He also rushed for 266 yards in six regular-season games and was a force on special teams as a kick returner.
