West Florence’s Alexa Gainey earned MVP honors for the South Carolina squad in the Clash of the Carolinas on Saturday.
The Clash was an all-star match between the top seniors in North and South Carolina.
Gainey, who will play at South Carolina in the fall, had an assist in the 4-2 loss to North Carolina.
The game was delayed 45 minutes because of lightning.
Gainey, the only player from the Pee Dee in the game, was four-time all-region selection and two-time team MVP at West.
North Carolina also won 2-0 in the boys’ portion of the event.
