The Fort Dorchester Patriots out gunned the field to win the 12th annual Anderson Brothers Bank Invitational High School Golf Championship with a 25 shot victory over defending champions The Aynor Blue Jackets on April 26. Winds and rain challenged players on the difficult Country Club of South Carolina layout. The Patriots shot a tournament record 592 with the help of a 2-under par team total from Monday’s round played at Dusty Hills Country Club in Marion. Third place went to Carolina Forest with a team total of 631.
Austin Zoller was the Tournament Medalist with a two-day total two under par 142. Aynor’s Zane Price finished second four shots behind Zoller. This is Price’s second year in a row of coming up just shy of the Medalist honors.
The Anderson Brothers Bank Golf Championship is one of South Carolina’s premier high school golf tournaments. The 36-hole tournament is played every spring on a rotating basis among golf courses in the Pee Dee Area. First round action was played at Dusty Hills with final round play held at The Country Club of South Carolina.
Over the years, the tournament has featured a number of top junior players. Past individual champions include players that have gone on to have successful college and budding pro careers such as Paul Woodbury (USC), Baker Elmore (USC), Tripp McAlister (Coastal Carolina), Colby Hyduke (Newberry), Kellen Altman (College of Charleston), and Steve Behr (Clemson signee).
