The Country Club of South Carolina was given an honor this week by The South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel.
CCSC, along with Mount Vintage Plantation & Golf Club in North Augusta, were named the top golf course in the Midlands.
“It is a great honor for The Country Club of South Carolina to again be ranked among the top golf courses in the state and recognized as the very best within the Midlands region”, said Jeff Coggin, president/CEO of The SIM Group, which runs CCSC. “It is further a privilege to reside in the company of several golf courses that are top-ranked in the entire country. We are very proud of our entire organization that has worked very diligently over the years to continually improve all aspects of our club operations which contribute significantly to the overall golf experience at CCSC. We are committed to delivering a quality golf product on a very consistent basis year-round.”
CCSC hosted the South Carolina Classic, an event on what’s now the Nationwide tour, from 1991-2000.
This year, some of the events the course will host are McLeod Children’s Hospital tournament, the Southern Conference golf championship, Grant Bennett Sertoma Classic and a tournament on the Carolinas Hooters Tour in June.
The S.C. Golf Course Ratings Panel named Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island and The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island were named the best public courses in South Carolina.
Harbour Town will host the PGA Tour’s Heritage tournament from April 21-24 while The Ocean Course will hold the final major of 2012, the PGA Championship.
Caledonia Golf & Fish Club at Pawley’s Island topped the Grand Strand Area. The Walker Course at Clemson University was best in the Upstate.
