COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Khadijah Sessions scored 24 points and hit three straight free throws in overtime to give Myrtle Beach a 64-59 win over Daniel of Central for the South Carolina Class 3A girls state basketball championship Saturday.
Tanisha Brown added 12 points for the Lady Seahawks (29-1) and Danielle Cooper had 11.
The Lady Seahawks maintained the upper hand most of the game, but Daniel kept fighting back. Anicia Dotson made two free throws with 10 seconds to play in the fourth quarter to force a 55-55 tie. Myrtle Beach missed two shots at the end of regulation.
The teams traded baskets in overtime before Brown's bucket put Myrtle Beach ahead for good.
Daniel, making its first appearance in a girls final, was led by Dotson's 19 points. Carly Hoover added 17 and Sherece Smith 11.
