LAMAR — Pat Windham drove in two runs and Alex Dorriety struck out 10 as Lamar moved on to the semifinals of the Johnsonville preseason tournament with a 10-0 win over Carvers Bay in six innings on Thursday in high school baseball.

Rob Joye scored three runs for the Silver Foxes, who will face Hannah-Pamplico today in Lake City.

Timmonsville’s Fullard signs with Apprentice School

TIMMONSVILLE — Timmonsville’s Malcolm Fullard has signed a letter of intent to play football for the Apprentice School in Newport News, Va.

Malcolm was a three year letterman for Timmonsville, playing offensive guard and outside linebacker. Malcolm was a team captain and has been signed as a fullback.

“The Apprentice School is a tremendous opportunity for Malcolm to further his education and follow his dream of playing college football,” Timmonsville coach Jimmy Woods said. “... This accomplishment is a testament to Malcolm’s hard work in the classroom as well as his dedication and accomplishments on the football field.

HOCKEY
Predators drop final games of regular season

GREENVILLE — The Florence Predators closed out the regular season in Greenville by losing 7-1 to Greenville North and 5-3 to Greenville South during recent South Carolina Scholastic Hockey Association games.

Joey Lazaroff stopped 73 shots in the two games, Austin Brown scored two goals with Trey Moore and Justin Morrison each adding a goal.

Despite the two losses, the team’s 6-3-1 record earned them the No. 4 seed and a first-round bye in the state tournament that begins this weekend in Charlestion at the Carolina Ice Palace.

Florence will play Lexington at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the semifinal games scheduled for Saturday night and the championship and consolation games scheduled for Sunday morning.
In addition to the state tournament, the state all-star game and skills competition will also take place.
