HARTSVILLE - The Hartsville Area Recreation Department youth basketball teams participated in the Eastern District Tournament Feb. 25-27.
Hartsville’s Small Fry team defeated Lee County 32-31 in a sub-district game Feb. 25 to advance to the district tournament in Dillon where Hartsville defeated Mullins 39-15 and North Myrtle Beach 31-12. During the finals on Feb. 27, the team lost to Sumter on a last second layup 39-37.
Hartsville’s Midgets were eliminated early in sub-district play 44-23 to Marlboro County.
Hartsville’s Mites traveled to Dillon for their sub-district game and defeated Dillon 49-47 during overtime. In the district tournament, Hartsville defeated Myrtle Beach 55-47 but fell in the semi-final round to eventual district champs Marlboro County.
The Hartsville Recreation Department would like to thank the coaches, players, parents and friends who traveled to Dillon and Myrtle Beach to support the teams. A special thanks goes to all the parents for providing transportation for the players to the games.
