FLORENCE — The South Florence softball team won the Pee Dee Pitch Off preseason tournament in dramatic fashion Saturday.
Jessica Sims hit a bases-loaded, three-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning of the championship game against Hartsville to give the Bruins a 4-3 win.
Sims was 2-for-4 with four RBI in the game. Ashley Bryant was 2-for-3 with a run scored and starting pitcher Kaiti Harper allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings for the win.
The Bruins went 5-0 in the two-day tournament. South’s JV squad also defeated Hartsville in the championship game of its bracket.
