FLORENCE – Despite right-hander Spencer Jordan having one of his worst outings of the summer and closer Jacob Smith getting roughed up in the eighth and ninth innings, the Florence RedWolves held on to defeat the Columbia Blowfish 9-8 on Sunday.
Jordan (5-2) worked the first five innings for the win. He gave up eight hits, six runs (five earned), walked four and struck out four.
Smith gave up three hits, two runs, and walked one, but still managed to get his fourth save.
Austin Smetana was 3-for-5 with two RBI to lead Florence, while Herman Petzold finished 3-for-4 with an RBI. Ethan Santora was 2-for-5 with two RBI, Stephen Carmon was 2-for-5 and Will Fontnow was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The RedWolves are off for the CPL All-Star break Monday and Tuesday. They will play at Columbia on Wednesday.
