FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville pitcher Ryan Prickett tossed a five-hit shutout as the SwampDogs defeated the Florence RedWolves 1-0 on Wednesday in Coastal Plain League action. Prickett struck out five and walked two and was able to work out of several jams. He ran into trouble in the seventh, allowing a walk and a hit, but both runners would be stranded.
The game’s lone run came in the eighth inning on Jake Carlson’s RBI groundout. Fayetteville had just six hits, two coming from Brandon Padula.
Ryan Durrence had two hits to lead the RedWolves. Colby Holmes took the loss, allowing one run in 7 1/3 innings. The Conway native struck out five and walked one.
Florence hosts Forest City today at 7:30 p.m.
