MULLINS -- The Pee Dee Academy Booster Club does a sensational job throughout the entire calendar year to support and fund athletics at the private school.
However, the one sport that does it's own fundraising is Jerry Coleman's golf team. For the third straight year, the team will do so by hosting a Captain's Choice Golf Tournament. The event is set to take place Saturday, April 24 at Dusty Hills Country Club in Marion.
Tee time is set for 11a.m.
"We have a very young team and our kids look forward to doing this event," Coleman said. The coach is in his seventh year of coaching the Golden Eagles golf team.
"We have some wonderful support throughout the community as people from all businesses and walks of life send contributions or come out to play," he said. "We have up to a dozen sponsors so far and are certainly hoping for more," Coleman said of the community coming together for the event."
Anyone can come out and play and take part as an individual or a four-person team. “If they come individually, we will put them together," Coleman said.
Prices for sponsorships are $30 each and lunch is provided by T-Roys of Marion. Cash prizes will be awarded and also some courses at the beach have donated free rounds for closest to the pin.
"This is a great event that the team and the kids put a lot of effort into," Coleman said. "We are looking forward to a great turnout and really believe people will have a great time coming out and supporting the kids and the team."
