Coastal Carolina product Tyler Thigpen never was in the good graces of the new coaching staff in Kansas City. Now the third year quarterback has a new home.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Tuesday that they've traded Thigpen to the Miami Dolphins for an undisclosed draft choice.

The Dolphins starting quarterback, Chad Pennington, had a season-ending shoulder injury in Miami's loss to San Diego Sunday. The only other quarterback they have on the roster are Michigan product Chad Henne, and wildcat extraordinaire Pat White.

Thigpen started 11 games last year for the Chiefs, throwing 18 touchdowns and over 2,600 passing yards. Thigpen won only one of those games, and coach Herm Edwards was fired after the season was over. Todd Haley took over this year, and Thigpen fell to third on the KC depth chart behind Matt Cassel and Brodie Croyle.

Both the Chiefs and the Dolphins are 0-3 to start the year.

Thigpen owns basically every passing record at Coastal Carolina, and led them to three Big South titles and the school's only NCAA tournament berth.
