Lake City will follow up last week’s shutout of Kingstree with a trip to Manning on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Monarchs.
Dashawn Butler rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another to lead Lake City to a 48-0 shutout of Kingstree this past Friday.
Sheldon Robinson rushed for one touchdown for the Panthers and scored another on a punt return.
Lake City’s defense held Kingstree to 35 total yards.
Lake City struck in the first quarter when Butler connected with Javin Hanna for a 63-yard touchdown pass. Robinson then scored on a 22-yard run to give the Panthers a 15-0 lead.
Butler accounted for two second-quarter touchdowns on a 12-yard run followed by a six-yard run. Those two scores gave the Panthers a 28-0 halftime lead.
The Panthers picked up where they left off in the third period, when Butler went on a 13-yard run to score his third touchdown of the night. Robinson added his second of the night on a 61-yard punt return for a score. Antwon Wallace scored Lake City’s final touchdown on a 24-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Shon Carson rushed for 121 yards on 14 carries. Butler finished with 90 yards rushing on nine carries and connected on all three passing attempts for 77 yards.
Prior to the game, the school commemorated Sept. 11 on the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks by honoring local police, firefighters, EMS, veterans and active military personnel. Members of the Lake City High School Junior ROTC program presented the colors while the Lake City High band played “America the Beautiful.”
