WINGATE, N.C. — Senior Hillary Kiprop finished third to lead the Francis Marion University men’s cross country team to a fourth-place showing at the Wingate University Invitational Meet on Saturday.
Senior Amanda Doyle was the top female finisher for FMU with a 20th-place finish.
Kiprop posted a time of 28:16 over the 8,000-meter course. Other FMU finishers were freshman Justin Albertson (29:59) in 18th-place, junior Ben Miller (31:14) in 25th, junior Jerry Roth (31:36) in 28th, freshman Ian Wallace (35:36) in 54th, and freshman Justin Trigg (35:37) in 55th.
Doyle completed the 6,000-meter women’s race in 28:09, while sophomore Samantha Smith placed 38th with a time of 30:52. Senior Amanda Booker (33:18) finished 57th and freshman Sierra Young (34:32) was 61st.
Anderson University swept both team titles.
Both FMU teams will participate in the Coastal Carolina University Invitational on Friday in Conway.
