South's Humphries wins region meet

SUMTER — South Florence’s Matt Humphries won the Region 6-4A cross country meet individual title for the fourth straight year, helping the Bruins to a third-place finish.

Carolina Forest topped the boys’ field and Sumter finished first in the girls’ competition in Wednesday’s meet in Sumter.
West Florence’s boys were fifth.

West was second in the girls’ competition and South was fifth.

Humphries also garnered all-region honors for the fifth straight year and West’s Brayden Reince did for the third year in a row.

Among the girls, West Florence’s Kristen Brown made all-region for the fourth time (2005-07, ’09) and South’s Kylie Cribb also was named all-region.

AYNOR — Amber Suggs had 12 kills and Morgan Whettington added eight to help Lake View sweep Aynor by scores of 25-11, 25-22 and 25-15.
Kayla Sanderson added 15 assists and five aces for the Wild Gators, while Samantha Spivey had 10 assists.

RECORDS: 13-4.
NEXT GAME: Scott’s Branch at Lake View at 6 p.m. Monday in the first round of the Class A playoffs.
