GREENWOOD — Senior Kyle Clinton and sophomore Emerson Peredo scored second-half goals as Francis Marion rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie Lander 2-2, in men’s soccer action.
Trailing 2-0, the Patriots (5-2-2, 1-0-1) cut the margin to 2-1 at 63:03 on Clinton's shot from in front of the goal off a free kick by Peredo. FMU tied the game at 2-2 at 79:15 when Peredo scored on a short shot off Chris Foltanski's assist.
Lander outshot Francis Marion 15-12.
FMU junior goalkeeper Clark Richeson recorded six saves.

Patriots take care of UNC Pembroke
FLORENCE — A career-high equaling 13 kills by junior middle blocker Mallory Eggert paced a balanced hitting attack as FMU downed visiting UNC Pembroke in four games (25-21, 18-25, 27-25, 25-20).
FMU climbs back to .500 at 7-7 and improves to 2-3 in the Peach Belt, while UNCP falls to 7-9 and 1-3.
Eggert committed only two errors in 20 attacks for a hitting percentage of .550 for the match, while also registering four blocks. Following her, sophomores Ashlee Crook and Ashlyn Underhill added 12 and 11 kills respectively.
FMU sophomore setter Hallie Legg handed out 23 assists, while senior setter Jess O’Leary added 17 helpers.
Junior libero Kelsie Deaton recorded a team-high 13 digs, while Legg and Underhill both dug up 11 balls.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Patriots blanked
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. —Gardner-Webb University scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 victory over FMU.
Francis Marion drops to 1-11-1, while the Bulldogs improve to 6-5-0. The Patriots will next play on Oct. 11 at Eastern Kentucky University.
Sarah Keyser headed in a pass from Megan Tremblay at the 16:43 mark to put GWU up 1-0. Stephanie Benshoof tallied an unassisted goal on a free kick in the 67th minute to account for the other goal.
Sophomore forward Kiley Williams had four of FMU’s shots, including the team’s only shot-on-goal which came in the 37th minute. Junior Rebecca Nelson hit the crossbar with a shot in the 34th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Casey Durham returned to action for the Patriots and recorded two saves.
