The High School football season comes to close for 2009 with three local teams making playoff appearances.
The Marion Swamp Foxes had a tough task facing a now 11-0 Timberland team on the road, which won Friday night by a score of 51-6.
The Mullins Auctioneers rallied for two late scores in their 35-14 lost at Manning, while Pee Dee Academy was defeated 35-12 at Northwood Academy.
Hats off to all of the coaches that put forth the effort to prepare the squads for a challenging season and all of the talented players that participated.
You’ll find this year’s Marion County Elite football players listed in this week’s issue of the Star & Enterprise.
However, football is not quite over in the area as a Mullins All-Star football team continues to play for a championship run. The Mullins 12-year old and under youth football team defeated Hartsville 42-6 this past Saturday and will return to Freedom Florence Field for their next game in the district championship tournament on Saturday.
