PEMBROKE, N.C. — UNC Pembroke broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth and deciding game with a 5-0 run and went on to claim a five-game (11-25, 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 15-7) win over Francis Marion onWednesday in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.
After splitting the first two games of the match, the two squads were tied 19-19 in the third game. UNCP (11-18, 2-10) ran off four straight points en route to winning the game. However, FMU rallied to win the fourth game and force a fifth game.
Francis Marion (11-17, 3-9) was led by sophomore Ardelia Morris with 18 kills and four blocks. Two Patriots posted double-doubles with senior setter Jess O’Leary recording 37 assists and 22 digs and sophomore hitter Ashlyn Underhill tallying 10 kills and 13 digs.
