FLORENCE — Wilson’s Alan-Michael Thompson will get a chance to continue his basketball career.
The senior signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play at Brunswick Community College with hopes of landing a spot at a Division I or II school when his two years are up.
“It’s another route you can take to get there,” Thompson said. “It’s a good school and hopefully I can go in and contribute.”
Brunswick has a good history of sending players on to bigger schools. This past year, it sent five players to Division I schools and two more to Division II schools.
“He definitely has good potential and if he takes care of everything there he will put himself in a good position to play after going to Brunswick,” former Wilson coach Bob Wilson said.
Thompson, who averaged 19 points and seven rebounds this year, was a member of the school’s 2007 Class 3A title team and was an all-region selection the past two years.
Thompson also ran track and placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump at the Class 3A state track meet.
