Clemson to host NCAA baseball regional

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Clemson was one of 16 sites selected to host an NCAA Baseball Regional for the 63rd-annual Division I Baseball Championship on Sunday.
The regional will begin at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday. The Tigers will be one of four teams to play in the double-elimination tourney, as the 64-team field will be announced on ESPN on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
Clemson was one of four ACC schools chosen to host a regional. The ACC led all conferences in host sites. The other ACC schools are Florida State, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina. Other host schools include Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton, East Carolina, Florida, Louisiana State, Louisville, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Rice, Texas, Texas Christian, and UC Irvine.
This is the 12th time since 1975 that Clemson has played host to a regional, fourth-most among the 16 host schools. This is the first time Clemson has played host to a regional since 2006.
It also is the 10th year Clemson has hosted a regional in Jack Leggett’s 16th season as head coach of the Tigers. The Tigers are 35-7 all-time in home NCAA tournament games, including a 32-5 record under Leggett.
The Tigers will be making their 22nd NCAA Tournament in the last 23 years and their first since 2007. Clemson has a 40-19 overall record and 19-11 ACC regular-season mark, good for third place in the league.
Pre-ordered tickets can be picked up starting Wednesday at the Clemson Athletic Ticket Office.
IPTAY members can purchase ticket books online at ClemsonTigers.com starting today and over the phone starting Monday. The ticket office will accept orders from the general public starting Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
Reserved ticket books will be available for $70. If reserved seating sells out, general admission books will be available for $45. Single-game tickets will only be sold once both teams are known.
For Friday’s games, individual tickets will be available starting at 8:00 a.m. Prices are $12 for reserved seats and $8 for general admission seats.
