JOHNSONVILLE - The Flashes started off the District 8 playoffs with a bang, defeating Timmonsville 15 – 0 last Thursday. Brock Cooper struck out eight and walked one, giving up one hit in five innings. Matthew Davis had a home run and a single with three RBI’s. Tracy Bishop added a triple and a single, with four RBI’s. Charlton Hanna went 2 for 2 with two RBI’s. Taylor Strickland had two hits. Gaige Powell had a home run.
Tracy Bishop pitched five innings on Saturday, giving up eight hits, striking out three and walking three in the 18 – 7 win over Branchville. Matthew Davis went 3 for 4 at the plate including a home run, with three RBI’s. Zachary Chandler had a home run, with two RBI’s. Tracy Bishop went 3 for 4 with five RBI’s. Taylor Strickland had two hits and one RBI.
Johnsonville sealed the District Eight Championship on Thursday night, May 7th, by defeating Branchville once again, 13 – 2. Tyler Tanner pitched five innings, giving up one hit, striking out three and walking four. The home run derby continued for the Flashes with Charlton Hanna, Gaige Powell and Tracy Bishop each taking one out of the park. Hanna had another single with two RBI’s. Powell had another single with four RBI’s for the night. Tracy Bishop had two RBI’s.
