JOHNSONVILLE — For the second time in three years, Johnsonville’s quest for the lower state championship was thwarted on its home field by Bamberg-Ehrhardt.
The Red Raiders won 4-3 and 7-2 on Friday to advance to the Class A state championship series.
The Red Raiders (27-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game one following a three-run homer in the third by Randon Sandifer.
The Flashes added a run in the bottom half of the third and got solo home runs in the fifth and sixth innings to round out the scoring.
Bamberg jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game two as well. It was all the run support Zack Godley needed as he struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits.
B-E will host Chesterfield at 6 p.m. Monday in game one of the best-of-three title series.
