Coming off a three-game winning streak in the beginning of their bid for a state championship, the Marion High School Swamp Foxes lost to Hanahan in Class 2A state playoffs this past Saturday.
Downed 12-2 on Saturday, the Swamp Foxes had to once again hit the road to play Andrews on Monday and were eliminated 6-3.
For the first time in 13 years, the team took the Region 8 2A title, after defeating Loris. The Swamp Foxes went on to beat Pelion twice and Timberland in playoff action.
This past Thursday, Marion defeated Pelion 8-1 to win the District 8 championship as well.
Ross White picked up the complete-game win, allowing just four hits and an earned run.
Leading hitters were Justin Brock 2-3 HR 4 RBI; Justin Elvis 2-3; Russ White 2-3 RBI; Justin Gause 1-4 HR 2 RBI.
Marion ends the season with a 17-6 overall record, going 9-1 in region play.
