Mullins Auctioneer shooting guard Stacy Wilson’s high school basketball run is not quite over yet.
Wilson has been selected to play in this Saturday’s 12th annual Carolinas All-Star Classic. Head Coach Mark Gerald called his four-year player one of the most improved he’s ever coached.
The all-star game will feature the top high school seniors from 37 schools across the Carolinas with festivities to begin tomorrow and run through Saturday. The tournament finds a new home in Myrtle Beach, with the game being played at Socastee High School.
The girl’s game begins at 6:30 p.m. and the boys hit the court at 8 p.m. On Friday, the players will showcase their skills in a slam dunk and 3-point contest at Myrtle Beach High School starting at 7:30 p.m.
Wilson averaged 20 points per game for the Aucs, helping to carry the squad into the Class 2A state championship.
“This was one of my main goals this season. To be playing with the best player's in South Carolina is a blessing, and I am one of them,” Wilson said. Wilson has received several honors for, including all-state, two-time all-region selection and is recognized as among the top players in the Pee Dee and Grand Strand region. He is also ranked among the top shooting guards in the nation according to ESPN.com.
Wilson’s teammates in the all-star game include his opponents in the championship game from Southside High School, Robbie Dreher and Quinton Thomas. Four-time Class A basketball champion from Calhoun County Alshon Jeffery will represent South Carolina along with Wilson’s dynamic guard Shamel Brackett.
Wilson is being recruited by several college teams to play basketball but has not yet finalized his plans.
