Lake City football coach Justin Gentry is one of the three finalists for the Emerald High School athletic director/football coaching position, Greenwood School District 50 announced in a press release Friday.

Gentry is 26-26 in five seasons at Lake City. The Panthers were 8-2 this past season, including a perfect 5-0 mark in Region 7-3A, but missed the playoffs after being suspended from the postseason because of a brawl with Wilson on Aug. 28.

The other finalists are Tim McMahon and Jeff Murdock. McMahon is the football coach at Anson High School in Wadesboro, N.C., while Murdock serves as the football coach at Ware Shoals High School.

“We reviewed 46 applications for the position and were extremely happy with the caliber of applicants who expressed interest,” said Greenwood School District 50’s Randy Vaughn. “The selection committee will meet on Monday to make a final decision ...”
