MURRELLS INLET — Tyler Boyd hit three home runs in two games and Florence swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader from Murrells Inlet late Monday night, winning 6-0 and 8-2.
Boyd had a two-run homer in Florence’s four-run fourth and added a solo shot in the fifth inning in the first game.
Chandler Smetana also had a two-run double in the third, helping make a winner of Spencer Jordan.
Jordan (3-1) pitched all seven innings, allowing just three hits, striking out seven and walking one.
Boyd hit a three-run homer in the first inning of game two in Post 1’s four-run opening frame.
Landis Lane helped Post 1’s cause with a two-run triple in the sixth.
Dale Sylvester (1-0) pitched six innings to get the win, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Florence, which has a 4 1/2 game lead in League II, improves to 10-3 overall and 8-0 in league play. Post 1 hosts Conway at 7 p.m. today at Legion Field.
