Darlington's Davis signs with New Jersey

»  Comments | Post a Comment

FLORENCEFormer Darlington High School standout Quentin Davis has signed a minor league contract with the New Jersey Jackals, according to Jeff Cordova, Davis’ agent.

The Jackals are an independent team in the Can-Am League and are located in Little Falls, N.J.

Davis was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 13th round in 2005. The speedy outfielder was with the organization until the Braves released him last month, when he was a member of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Davis’ best season was in 2007 for Myrtle Beach, when he hit .261 with 37 stolen bases and 11 triples. But he struggled in 2008 with Mississippi, hitting just .191 and missing half the season with various injuries.

He returned to Myrtle Beach this season, spent more time on the disabled list and was released after making just 72 plate appearances in 17 games.
