SUMTER — Charlie Abbott tossed a complete game but didn’t get much run support as Post 1 fell to Shelby 2-1 in the first game of the North Carolina vs. South Carolina Legion Challenge on Friday.
With the score tied 1-1, Shelby scored a run in the ninth for the victory.
Abbott (1-1), who had the team’s lone RBI in the eighth, allowed only an earned run and five hits while striking out seven in the loss.
Landis Lane and Dustin Britt led Florence with two hits each.
