Conway native Colby Holmes has a lot on his mind this week. Holmes was drafted in the 47th round by the Atlanta Braves. He's pretty sure he's going to go to South Carolina, and not go pro. But he may have been weighing his options when he was on the mound tonight. Because he looked like his head was somewhere else.
The USC signee only made it two innings in the North/South Select All-Star Game at BB&T Coastal Field. The Tarheels crushed the Sandlappers 9-2. Holmes surrendered three runs in the first, and then struggled again in the second before getting the boot.
Team South scored two runs in the bottom of the first, but did not score again after that. CCU signee and Fairfield Central product Justin Trapp singled in the first, then came home on a Seth Neely (Rock Hill) RBI single.
The game was one of two Select All-Star Games. Earlier in the afternoon, the teams finished up Game 1 which was postponed because of rain the night before. Team South won Game 1, 8-3.
