PETERSBURG, Va. — A three-run seventh inning put Petersburg in front and relievers Mike Francisco and Nickolas Schreiber combined for a perfect two innings as the Florence RedWolves dropped their first game of the season, 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Petersburg starter Bobby Holmes (1-0) gave three runs on seven hits, walked four and struck out nine.
John Taylor (0-1) took the loss for Florence (5-1), allowing all four runs, only one of which was earned, on seven hits with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Florence plays an exhibition tonight at home against Catawba Valley (7:30 first pitch).
