HAMPTON, Va. — Nick Gillung allowed one run on five hits with eight strikeouts in six innings as the Florence RedWolves earned a 3-1 victory over Peninsula on Monday.
Peninsula tallied its only run in the bottom of the first inning as Gillung picked up his second win of the year.
Florence (5-0) got RBI singles from Taylor Lewis in the second inning and Preston Shuey in the third to back Gillung’s pitching. The RedWolves added another run in the seventh off an error by the Peninsula shortstop.
Curtis Murphy went 2-for-5 and scored two runs for Florence while Brandon Forshee picked up a two-inning save.
Florence is at Petersburg today
