FLORENCE — Rayshawn Coe hit a three-run homer and Casey Kelley drilled a towering two-run shot to help Hartsville National to a 12-3 victory over Lake Marion at the McLeod Health Dixie Youth Baseball Majors State Tournament on Wednesday.
Lake Marion was eliminated despite a record-setting performance from Wyatt Rucker. Rucker hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and a long solo shot in the sixth frame to establish new tournament records for home runs (7) and runs batted in (14).
Rucker (1-1) was also the losing pitcher, despite striking out eight in five innings.
Skylar Stokes pitched a complete-game win for Hartsville National. He allowed only six hits, walked no one, and fanned 10 batters.
Kelley also hit a sacrifice fly to finish with three RBIs. Eleven different Hartsville National had base hits.
Unbeaten Hartsville National will play once-beaten Surfside Beach in the championship game today at 1 p.m. If Surfside Beach wins that game, a second championship contest would be played at 7 p.m.
Surfside Beach 3 Midland 1
Tyler Dillon drilled a three-run homer over the left-center field fence in the fourth inning to lift Surfside Beach a win over Midland in an elimination game.
Right-hander Buck Bacot (2-0) pitched a complete game five-hitter. He allowed only five hits, walked none, and struck out four.
Dillon, Bacot, and Conor Sloan were all 2-for-3 at the plate for Surfside Beach.
MINORS
Pineview 13 Maple Park 3
Pineview scored six runs in each of the third and fourth innings to claim a win over unbeaten Maple Park.
However, Maple Park won a three-way coin flip to earn a bye today. North Myrtle Beach will play Pineview in an elimination game today at 10 a.m., with the winner meeting Maple Park in the championship game at 4 p.m.
Tanner Lane led Pineview with two hits, while Pierce Trotter and Stephen Kight both drove in two runs.
Austen Linenbrink pitched a complete game for Pineview with six strikeouts.
Benj Jones stroked an RBI double for Maple Park, while Dustyn Williams had an RBI single. Tyler Davis was the losing pitcher.
North Myrtle Beach 9
Sumter American 6
Trailing 6-4, North Myrtle Beach scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to rally for a 9-6 win over Sumter American in an elimination game.
Dylan Doolittle had two hits, including an RBI single in the decisive rally.
Michael Genovese earned the pitching win in relief and also drove in two runs.
McLendon Sears, Jordan Holladay, and Alex Jones all had two hits and an RBI for Sumter American.
North Myrtle Beach will play Pineview in an elimination game on Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
