FLORENCE — Christopher Weekley and Worth Burch combined on a two-hit shutout as Hartsville National downed Surfside Beach 7-0 in a winners’ bracket game at the 2009 McLeod Health Dixie Youth Baseball Majors State Tournament on Tuesday night at Freedom Florence.

Weekley (2-0) pitched the first two frames, while Burch allowed only one base runner in the final four frames to earn the save.
Weekley scored the game’s first run in the second inning on a double play grounder by Rayshawn Coe. Coe later drilled RBI-doubles in the fourth and fifth innings.
Buck Bacot and Sammy McKinney had the two hits for Surfside Beach. Tyler Dillon was the losing pitcher.
Lake Marion, McLeod Park 3
FLORENCE — Wyatt Rucker tied a tournament record with his fifth home run, a solo shot that snapped a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning, to carry Lake Marion to a 4-3 win over McLeod Park in an elimination game.
Rucker (1-0) also pitched a scoreless fifth and sixth innings to earn the pitching win. His winning hit, a towering shot to left field, tied the tournament record previously set in 2003 and 2004, and ran his tournament RBI total to 11, one shy of the record.
Grayson Cottingham was 3-for-3 for McLeod Park, including an opposite field solo homer in the third inning.
With McLeod Park holding a 3-1 lead entering the bottom of the fourth, Robert Lewis pushed a two-out, two-run single through the right side to knot the score at 3-3 and set the stage for Rucker’s hit in the next inning. Lewis also had an RBI ground out in the second frame.
William Long (1-1) was the losing pitcher.
Midland 11, Gregg Park 2
FLORENCE — Tyler Baker’s first-inning grand slam home run sparked Midland to an 11-2 win over Gregg Park in an elimination game.
Hunter Logan was 2-for-4, including a two-run homer in the third inning that put Midland ahead 7-1.
Ryan McElveen, Grant Petrey, and Stan Jones also had two hits for Midland. Austin Price was the winning pitcher.
Joseph Whitt accounted for both Gregg Park runs with solo homers in the second and fifth innings. He also homered on Monday night.
Hunter Groomes was the losing pitcher.
MINORS
North Myrtle Beach 6, Parks Field American 5
FLORENCE — Michael Geneovese tripled to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning and then scored on an RBI ground ball to third by Garrison Gause to give North Myrtle Beach a 6-5 win over Parks Field American in an elimination game.
NMB led 5-2 entering the fifth inning, but Parks Field American drew to within 5-3 on a run-scoring single by Parker Bass in the top of the fifth frame. Parks Field American then tied the score at 5-5 on RBI singles by Tatum Rowland and Austin Ruple in the top of the sixth inning.
Reliever Dylan Doolittle was the winning pitcher, and collected an RBI single at the plate. Gause had a pair of hits, while Christian Coppola became the first AAA player ever to hit two triples in a tournament game.
Bo Gobin was the losing pitcher.
Pineview 5, Seneca 4
FLORENCE — Pineview scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to come from behind for a 5-4 victory over Seneca in an elimination game.
David Cannaday had an RBI triple and an RBI single for Pineview. Pierce Trotter, Austen Linenbrink, and Cameron Cribb also had two hits for Pineview.
Tanner Lane scored the go-ahead (and eventual winning run) with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.
Chance Laffin pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win.
Leadoff batter Gus Johnson singled and scored two runs for Seneca. CJ Wilson had an RBI groundout.
Jake Donald, the losing pitcher, tossed a complete game.
Maple Park 14, Sumter American 8
FLORENCE — D’Juan Scudder went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Maple Park to a 14-8 victory over Sumter American in a winners’ bracket game.
Right-hander Brett Martin pitched a complete game for the win.
Josh Humphrey, Cole Norris (1 RBI), and Jack Pawloski (3 RBIs) all had two hits for Maple Park.
For the second straight day, Maple Park trailed 3-0 in the first inning, but scored five times in the second and five times in the third.
Jordan Holladay was 4-for-4 for Sumter American, while McLendon Sears went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Ryan Touchberry, who was 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate, was the losing pitcher.
