FLORENCE — After dominating the Coastal Plain League in the first half, The Forest City Owls haven’t missed a beat in the second half.

Brian Burton hit a first-inning grand slam and Konstantine Diamadur had three hits and four RBI as the Forest City Owls defeated the Florence Redwolves 9-3 on Thursday at Legion Field.

Forest City, which won the first-half West Division title, is 15-3 in the second half.

The Owls have won both meetings with the RedWolves this season.

Wade Moore added two hits and three runs for the Owls, who scored five runs in the first inning.

The run support was more than enough for starter Ryan Arrowood, who improved to 9-0.

The right-hander allowed two earned runs on six hits over seven innings and also struck out three.

Barrett Kleinknecht led Florence with two hits and two RBI as the RedWolves managed single runs in the first, sixth and ninth innings.

Zach Caldwell had two hits and an RBI.

Former Wilson standout John Taylor took the loss, giving up eight runs (three earned) in six innings. Taylor also struck out four.

The loss shrinks Florence’s lead in the South Division to 1 1/2 games over Wilson.

The RedWolves host the Tobs today at 7:30 p.m.
