MANNING — Post 1 used small ball to take command of its first-round series against Manning.
Florence had four bunt hits and scored six runs over the first four innings to defeat Manning 12-5 on Tuesday.
Post 1 leads the series 2-0. Game 3 is tonight at 7 p.m. at West Florence High School.
“We got what we wanted,” Florence coach Derick Urquhart said. “This was toughest pitcher we seen all year. We got ahead early and played small ball.We put the pressure on the defense.”
Cody Ritch had two hits and two runs scored. Keaton Lutcken added two hits and two RBI. Charlie Abbott got the win and went six innings. Abbott also had two hits in the game.
Manning pitcher Drew Watcher took the loss. Watcher and coach G.G. Cutter were ejected in the fifth inning for arguing a call.
