FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Francis Marion’s Taylor Norfleet’s two-run double in the eighth inning helped the Fayetteville SwampDogs to a 3-2 win over the Florence RedWolves on Thursday.
Florence led 2-1 going into the eighth inning before Norfleet’s game-winner off reliever John Taylor, who took the loss in relief of Brad Raj.
Raj went six innings, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out eight.
“Brad was good for us and we gave John Taylor ball and he just made one mistake,” Florence coach Wes Davis said.
Florence had a chance in the ninth inning after Herman Petzold’s one-out single but he was left stranded.
Wes Dutton got the win in relief for Fayetteville.
Barrett Kleinknect hit a solo homer in the fifth inning to give Florence a 2-1 lead. Steven Neff and Sam DiMatteo each had two hits for the Redwolves.
Florence will host Wilimington tonight at 7:30 p.m. David Haselden will get the start for Florence.
