Darlington's James headed to USC Salkahatchie

»  Comments | Post a Comment

DARLINGTON — Darlington’s Donnie James fullfilled a life-long dream Thursday by signing with USC Salkahatchie to play college basketball.

James averaged 19 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Falcons last season after coming back from a knee injury that kept him out of the lineup in 2007.

“We’re very excited that Donnie is going to be able to continue his career,” Darlington coach Ken Howle said. “He’s been a big part of our program and he’s done so many things for us the last few years.

Donnie has a lot of confidence. He believes he can do almost anything on the court, and he’s got the athletic talent to back that up. Those are things you can’t coach.”

Howle added that James’ hopes to one day move on to a four-year university.
