After two and half months recouping from the Myrtle Beach wildfire, the Fazio course at Barefoot Resort opened back up to the public on Wednesday.
While the course itself went unaffected, the fire ripped through much of the surrounding trees. The burnt trunks were cleared out, and made into mulch. So the course that once was very enclosed by trees is now wide open. The course traded shade for breeze, and Barefoot Resort Director of Golf Mike Ross says that the changes are minimal, and that the integrity of the golf course has not changed.
The course also had to replace a 545 foot long bridge, and half of another bridge that burned in the fire.
