Clemson adds TCU to boost nonconference schedule

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson's nonconference schedule next season just got a lot tougher.

The Tigers added a Sept. 26 home game against TCU on Friday. The Horned Frogs finished 11-2 and ranked seventh in the country last season, with their only losses coming against No. 2 Utah and No. 5 Oklahoma.

Clemson finished 7-6 in 2008.

The game is a one-year deal between the teams. It completes TCU's nonconference schedule and replaces Central Michigan on the Tigers' schedule.

It is only the second time in 20 years Clemson has played a nonconference team ranked in the top 10 at home.

TCU is 11-3 in its last 14 games against teams from conferences with automatic BCS bids.

Clemson hasn't lost to a team outside the BCS since a 13-10 defeat against Marshall in the 1999 opener.
