Carvers Bay postponed their signing day until the Friday afterwards, to give prized-recruit Kwame Geathers a little extra time to make his decision. But it was still not enough time. Seven Bears signed their National Letters of Intent Friday without their teammate by their side.
Geathers visited Tennessee yesterday, and know the Volunteers have thrown a wrench in the decision. Geathers says he enjoyed the trip to Knoxville, and was impressed with the coaching staff. The sticking point from some schools has been position, Geathers wants to play defense, while most teams want him to play offense. Tennessee guaranteed him a spot on the defensive line.
In his mind, Geathers says prior to yesterday he had made the choice between Georgia and Central Florida, his two previous finalists. Now he's not so sure. Kwame's brother, Robert, played at Georgia, and Kwame has always had dreams of playing for the Bulldogs. But, they're only interested in having Geathers play offense.
Geathers has a cousin that plays at UCF, and they've told him that he will play defense. UCF is the only school that has not given Geathers a deadline. Tennessee and Georgia need to know by March 1st.
Geathers guarantees that he'll make a decision by early next week.
The seven Bears that signed Friday is the most Carvers Bay has ever sent to the next level in one year. Keshawn Frasier, Russell Perry and Arlington Scott all signed to Elizabeth City in North Carolina. Willie Dozer, Carlton Linnen, Michael Linnen and Johnny Washington all signed to Feather River Junior College in California.
