Five Panthers players scored in double digits to lead Lake City over Hemingway 74-56 Saturday night.

Martin Cooper led Lake City with 17 points, followed by DaShawn Butler with 15, Willis Flowers and Domanic Wilson with 11 each, and Corey Baker with 10.

The Panthers took a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 33-29 at the half. Lake City’s pressure defense held Hemingway to only 23 second-half points and created turnovers to help them score 45 points in the second half.

The night before, Lake City took a 73-49 blowout win over Kingstree. Butler led the Panthers with 18 points, while Cooper added 15. Flowers scored 11 points on the night, and Baker scored 10.

On Tuesday, Lake City faced Rowville Secondary College, a sports academy high school from Australia, and came away with a 62-43 win. The Panthers trailed by a point at the half, but held Rowville to only four points in the third period. Shonquez Nelson led all Lake City scorers with 12 points. Butler added 11, and Baker chipped in 10.

The Panthers, 5-0 on the season, are scheduled to host Country Vic, a select team from Australia, on Tuesday night before hosting Kingstree on Friday.
