Marsh's U.S. Amateur Run Comes to an End

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Tulsa, Okla. - Coker College senior golfer, Chris Marsh, failed to make the cut at the 2009 U.S. Amateur Championship on Tuesday afternoon. Marsh shot a 12 over, 82 on the first day of the championship and then shot an eight over, 78 on day two.

Unfortunately, for Chris he did not finish within the top 64 players in the stroke play rounds and was unable to advance to match play. Marsh's +20 total for the two rounds placed him 265th of 312 golfers.

This was the first time Marsh qualified for the U.S. Amateur. The reining Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Year will now return to Hartsville to prepare for his senior year of competition with the Cobras. Marsh and his fellow Coker golfers will tee it up for their first tournament of the season on Sept. 7-8 at the Kiawah Island Invitational. Chris will be looking to defend his 2008 Kiawah Invitational title at the Cougar Course where he set the course record, 64, last year.
