Coastal has been inconsistent as a whole the past two seasons, but one position that they have found a strength is at punter.
Ben Erdman led the Big South, averaging over 38 yards a boot. He was first team all-conference last year, and is preseason all-conference for 2009. Erdman was highly regarded coming out of high school - the top punter in the state of North Carolina his senior year.
The junior says he's still working on his consistency, and he takes offense to some people who say punting is not an important part of the game.
"When I go out there, I'm like the quarterback," says Erdman. "The guys have to follow me, and we have a good time with it."
